Green Trend (?)

"Green" is a popular color between all colors nowadays. You can find it anywhere in any products, from foods to gadgets. It seems environmental issue is a great promotion for selling products. But how does "green" relate to those products? Well, it seems most of the products that using "Green" term is truly "green". But some other are only put it for promotion, while the truth is far from green at all. So let's see what are "Green" and its correlation to our environment.
If the corporate claim their brands as "green" products, they have to use renewable raw materials. They also have to use non-hazardous materials. But how can brands claim as "green" if they still using plastics such as polystyrene or styrofoam as a pack of their products? A recyclable pack is available for now. So check the brands you use if they claimed as "green" products if they use degradable materials for their container. Examples of biodegradable plastics can be seen in this link. If cornstarch plastic can't works well, you can use oxodegradable plastic.

It almost impossible to find a hundred percent "green" products. When the products manufactured, they need some amount of energy. And it means they also consume fuel and contribute in global warming. A good "green" brand will say they join the carbon compensation program (which is making their price more expensive).

It's not only corporate responsibility to do "green" movement. We also need to do "green" lifestyle. We can start from using our own cup to buy a coffee or using reusable drinking water container instead buying new bottled water. "Green" is might be a trend, and it should be if we concern our future. Happy Earth Day!
